The Dana Biosphere Reserve covers approximately 320 square kilometers and includes an
extraordinary variety of ecosystems:

The trek begins from Dana Village as we descend gradually along ancient shepherd paths toward the desert floor.
During the hike, experience:
• Diverse desert flora and fauna

By evening, arrive at the Feinan ruins area where we establish camp near the remains of an ancient Byzantine settlement and church, historically linked to one of the oldest mining regions in the Middle East.

Trekking time: 7–8 hours
Dinner and overnight camping beneath the stars.
Day 3 – Feinan Ruins to Wadi Araba
Overnight: Desert Camp
After breakfast, continue trekking southward across the wide open landscapes of Wadi Araba.
Today’s route traverses vast hamada terrain — a stony desert plateau surrounded by jagged mountain ranges rising dramatically to the east.
To the west, the landscape gradually descends toward the Dead Sea basin, more than 400 meters below sea level.
Highlights of today include:
• Remote desert crossings
• Wadi Barwaz canyon area
• Expansive panoramic desert views
• Sand dune landscapes
• Traditional Bedouin routes
Following a lunch break near the mountains, continue across open desert terrain before reaching a peaceful campsite among small sand dunes.
The clear desert skies provide exceptional stargazing opportunities.
Distance: Approx. 18 km
Trekking time: 8–9 hours
Dinner and overnight camping.
Day 4 – Wadi Araba to Ras Feid
Overnight: Desert Camp
Today the route gradually leaves the open desert and climbs back into the rugged mountain terrain.
Begin with a steady ascent toward Abu Sakakin at the base of the mountains before tackling a more demanding climb over rocky trails and winding mountain paths.
This section offers:
• Dramatic mountain scenery
• Elevated desert viewpoints
• Remote wilderness landscapes
• Challenging trekking terrain
After lunch, continue climbing to a high mountain saddle at approximately 720 meters above sea level, revealing magnificent views deep into the surrounding mountain ranges.
Descend through narrow pathways into the beautiful Sakakin Canyon before reaching camp at Ras Feid near the river valley.
Distance: Approx. 14 km
Trekking time: 8–9 hours
Dinner and overnight camping.
Day 5 – Ras Feid to Shkaret Msei’d
Overnight: Desert Camp
After breakfast, continue through the scenic Sakakin Canyon, passing large reed beds and hidden watercourses.
Today’s route follows traditional Bedouin migration paths historically used by shepherds moving livestock between the desert lowlands and cooler mountain pastures.
The trek includes:
• Rocky mountain trails
• Steep ascents and descents
• Remote valleys
• Spectacular panoramic viewpoints
• Traditional Bedouin grazing regions
Although physically demanding, today offers some of the most rewarding mountain scenery of the expedition.
Eventually, reach the mountain pass overlooking Shkaret Msei’d before descending to the valley floor and establishing camp.
Trekking time: 8–9 hours
Dinner and overnight camping.
Day 6 – Shkaret Msei’d to Little Petra
Overnight: Desert Camp
After breakfast, continue inland away from the desert mountains toward the ancient site of Little Petra (Siq al-Barid).
The route follows rolling hills, quiet valleys, and small rural settlements before suddenly revealing
the remarkable sandstone-carved structures of Little Petra.
Highlights include:
• Ancient Nabataean rock-cut architecture
• Narrow sandstone passages
• Desert canyons and valleys
• Historical caravan routes
Little Petra once served as an important trading suburb connected to Petra itself and is believed to date back thousands of years.
After exploring the site, continue trekking through nearby valleys to a scenic desert campsite surrounded by sandstone formations.
Trekking time: Approx. 8 hours
Dinner and overnight camping.
Day 7 – Trek Into Petra & Transfer to the Dead Sea
Overnight: Dead Sea
Today marks the highlight of the journey — the spectacular entrance into Petra.
The trek initially leads to the Monastery (Ad-Deir), one of Petra’s largest and most impressive monuments, carved directly into the sandstone cliffs.
Continue through Petra’s hidden trails and archaeological wonders including:
• Ancient Nabataean tombs
• Jebel Al-Khubtha viewpoints
• Red-striped sandstone formations
• Wadi Mataha
• The Colonnaded Street
Finally, walk through the dramatic Siq canyon to reach Petra’s most iconic monument — the Treasury (Al-Khazneh).
