Why Buy Travel Insurance?
We all want our vacation to be fun and go smoothly, but let’s face it, somethings things go awry.
Travel insurance provides peace of mind and can protect your pocketbook for travel mishaps including:
- If you or your travel companions become too sick to go on your trip, you can get reimbursed for non-refundable expenses.
- If an immediate loved one, say a spouse or parent, becomes very ill or is failing, you can cancel or return from your trip and recoup non-refundable expenses
- Significant delays of your trip can be reimbursed
- Lost or stolen bags can be reimbursed
- If you get hurt, you can be evacuated to the nearest quality medical center: this is critical for us adventurers who go off to remote regions where a helicopter evacuation may be necessary and is extrememly expensive!

You usually get a ‘Grace Period’ to read and review the policy, so be sure that your policy covers the activities of your trip. If you need additional coverage, you can cancel or modify your purchased policy within the grace period. Certain activities like hiking above a certain altitude, or paragliding or other more extreme activities, may require a rider. Just call the company to add it. Also, inform the company if you need to modify the dates.
PRO TIP: Keep all receipts and boarding passes until you return from your trip as proof should you need to file.
