The El Camino de Santiago, the historical ‘Pilgrim’s’ paths in Europe, is so popular that the Active Travel Adventures podcast has interviewed several listeners about their experiences on the El Camino.
There are numerous El Camino paths, but these are considered the most popular: The French Way, the Portuguese Way, the Camino Norte, and the Camino Primitivo (the ‘Original’ Way).

The Camino Primitivo
The Camino Primitivo is considered by many to be the hardest, but most beautiful, of the Camino routes. This route is also called the ‘Original Way’, as King Alfonso II the Chaste was the first-ever pilgrim to go to Santiago. The trail runs from Oviedo to Santiago and has some steep ascents and descents. Less than 5% of ‘Pilgrims’ walk this route.
