The Active Travel Adventures podcast inspires and empowers you to lead a bigger life through adventure travel.

We scour the planet for the most fun and beautiful active vacations, whether it’s climbing Machu Picchu, rafting the Colorado river through the Grand Canyon, walking the El Camino in Spain, or bicycling less touristy islands of Greece.

The  common denominator is that you have to MOVE: either hike, bike, paddle and/or horseback ride for part of each day!

The bar is set that my reasonably fit 64 year old body can do these adventures and so can YOU!

These adventures aren’t crazy hard or dangerous like climbing Mount Everest… they are doable, epic fun vacations for those that are in decent physical shape.

Most have a difficulty rating of 3 out of 5, so if you’re in reasonable shape, particularly if you are willing to train a bit, YOU can do these trips!

All adventures offer a fun, fascinating and unique way to immerse yourself in another culture or destination.

Listen to the Podcast below: I trusted Hurtigruten, world expedition leader (and the first!), to take me on my epic Antarctica expedition (including the Falkland and South Georgia Islands).  I was so impressed with their operation, that once I got home, I reached out to see if they’d be interested in becoming an affiliate with Active Travel Adventures, which I am delighted to say, they readily agreed that we’d be a good match. Here’s What to Bring for your Antarctica Expedition Fortunately, you won’t need to pack as much as you think you will for your Antarctica expedition!  You wear the same things over and over again, and there is a laundry service on board.  I also packed many quick dry clothes so I could wash them in the sink – there’s a wind up clothes line in your shower.  Note that these are Amazon affiliate links and
The MS Fram : My Antarctica Expedition Ship My In-Depth Antarctica Expedition including the Falkland and South Georgia Islands cruise was on Hurtigruten’s newly remodeled MS Fram.  Hurtigruten, a Norwegian company, is the original expedition tour leader – since 1893!   I chose them for for my own Antarctica expedition because of their solid reputation and deep knowledge of sailing in frigid, icy polar seas.  When you are that far from civilization, you want to sail
Things To Do on our Antarctica Expedition Cruise Each night, a memo was slipped under our door explaining what activities would be available to us the next day so we could plan what we wanted to do.  There was ALWAYS something fun to do!  I was impressed that Hurtigruten, my Antarctica expedition tour company, offered such a variety of activities, from art, history science and more! There is bound to be something of interest for
Antarctica Excursions The main reason you take an expedition cruise to Antarctica rather than a typical tour is so that you take an active part in your surroundings.  On an expedition, you can get close to the wildlife and are actually ON the landscape, so have a richer experience.  I went with my affiliate, Hurtigruten, and highly recommend them! You aren’t touring as if you are looking into a fish bowl, you are an active,
