Netherlands Boat and Bike Small Group Adventure : July 2027
I am putting together an Active Travel Adventures small group [MAX 24 guests] for a week long exploration of the northern part of the Netherlands, Friesland. This amazing and gorgeous region is not as touristy as the southern part, so we’ll cycle and explore a calm and historic region.
The date (to be determined) will be a Friday to Friday in July 2027 (note that it will be in ’27 NOT ’26).
We are scheduled to have BoatBikeTours.com top guide, Tammy plus another of her fantastic coworkers on board to guide those of us who prefer hearing the history and insights from an insider. Or, you can self-guide if that’s your style!
I am still working out the details, but the cost should be under €2000 per person, and will include a super comfy cabin with a private bath (most rooms have two twin beds, so find a roommate), all breakfasts, we pack up our lunch after breakfast, and all but one dinner.
We’ll be on the boutique ship Lena Marie, which has a fun deck and relaxing salon. We rent top quality bikes from Boat Bike Tours (some e-Bikes are available if reserved at the time of booking), unless you want to bring your own.
I imagine some of us will meet in Amsterdam beforehand, so maybe I’ll rent a big AirBnB to use as a base camp like we did for the Portuguese Way Camino and Bhutan in Kathmandu, Nepal. Let me know if you’re interested in that as well.
It’s an easy train ride to get to and from the Enkhuizen port from Amsterdam. I imagine those that get together beforehand in Amsterdam will catch the train together.

PS: The Netherlands are FLAT, so it is rated a 1 out of 4 for difficulty. Wind is the only issue.

Looking for an adventure where your partner is not as active as you???
Boat and Bike tours are a perfect trip for couples with different physical abilities! One can rent a manual bike and the other an e-Bike (or both an e-Bike). If your partner doesn’t feel like riding one day, he or she can stay with the ship – or just enjoy the cruise the entire trip without even getting on a bike. We only spend around four hours biking each day. Boat and Bike Tours offer great flexibility for couples. They are also an excellent way to dip your toes into active holidays (or to encourage inactive partners to experiment)!
