My annual great travel podcasts list is one of my most popular posts/shows because it highlights some terrific travel shows that can inspire and inform your travel plans in the new year. Active Travel Adventures
This popular adventure travel podcast, hosted by moi, focuses on multi-day adventure travel vacations that regular but fit folks can do. On each episode, we hike, bike and/or paddle as we explore new cultures and landscapes. You’ll learn what you can expect, what you’ll see, eat and do. You are sure to find some travel inspiration! A printer-friendly Travel Planner is available for each episode, and the website is filled with pics and further details of each active adventure covered.
All Things Travel
Ryan and Julie share tips and insights to help you plan a magical vacation. Often with a Disney or family slant, but they also cover a wide array of topics like food, or themed shows, like spookiest vacation destinations.
Amateur Traveler
Chris Christensen, long time host of one of the most popular travel podcasts, interviews guest about specific destinations around the world. You’ll learn where to stay, what to see and do, where to eat and so much more. His website is a gold mine for travel planning, as he has covered over 2000 destinations on this long running show(one of the first!).
Big World Made Small
Jason interviews adventure travel experts, such as guides and adventure tour operators, from around the world to hear stories and insights that make travel special. It’s like listening in on a fun conversation between experienced travelers.
Educate Your Travel
Hosted by a well-traveled high school teacher (over 45 countries and US states), you will learn tips, travel hacks, and hear stories from the road, whether its climbing Kilimanjaro or visiting Japan. Host Jordan gives plenty of details to help you plan, often quite budget friendly.
Exploring the National Parks
Ash and John from Dirt in My Shoes share tips and insights about visiting the United States National Parks. You’ll hear engaging stories about their adventures and what they learned and discovered on this helpful show.
Frequent Miler on the Air

On Scott’s entertaining show, you will get inspiration from ordinary people that will ‘light the spark’ and encourage your next adventure. More cerebral than most shows, Scott digs into some of the psychology and motivations about what makes his guests’ adventure intriguing.
